The Bute Highland Games have hosted bands from all over the world over the years.

There is scarcely a moment during the day when you aren't enjoying the strains of a March, Strathespey or Reel played by one of the competing bands.

On Bute we are proud to have our very own Rothesay and District Pipe Band regaled in the Modern Bute Stuart tartan.

The Drum Major leads the way and is resonsible for providing commands to the band, leading them while marching, and directing them what to play, and what time to keep. The commands, more often than not, are given with a Baton or with a Mace.

Enjoy the breathtaking spectacle of a Drum Major throwing his Mace high into the air, while marching, and catching it skillfully on the move.
