Our Chairman, Duncan McAlister. Duncan is no stranger to the community of Bute, the second son to the Bruchag Dynasty of McAlisters. He and his wife Janie have recently retired from farming Nether Ardroscadale Farm on the west of the island, having previously farmed Langalbunioch Farm. Duncan has been a stalwart of Bute Highland Games for many a long year. He, along with Barry Martin and Jimmy Duncan work tirelessly to set the park out for Games day each and every year. Having served as Vice Chair, he took over the rudder at our AGM in September.
Duncan is well-used to Leadership roles having served as Chairman of Bute Agricultural Society in 2004 and Chair of the Vintage Tractor Club two years later.
Duncan, looking forward to the big day said, “Over the years it has been great to work in the background and with last year being my first as Chairman following my stint as vice-Chair. I’m looking forward to welcoming one and all to the Games, especially our Chieftain Joy Dunlop. I am delighted to lead such an enthusiastic group of volunteers. The whole committee give so much of their time and talents to stage the Games and they deserve every accolade for their efforts.”
